The brief

To design and build a purpose-made website for Llanfallteg Millennium Hall, a volunteer-run community venue in rural South Wales, replacing a website that never got off the ground. The Hall needed a site that felt genuinely local and welcoming, while giving trustees a proper back-end system for managing events, weekly activities and hire bookings themselves, without relying on a developer for day-to-day updates.

Llanfallteg Millennium Hall sits at the heart of five villages between Whitland and Narberth, run entirely by a small group of volunteer trustees. Their previous website never gained traction and had gone offline, so the brief called for a fresh start built specifically around how the committee actually works: a small, non-technical team who needed to add events, manage a weekly activity schedule and handle hire enquiries without ongoing developer support.

Rather than a template CMS, the site was custom-built using an AI-assisted ('vibe coding') development approach, giving the Hall a bespoke booking and scheduling system shaped entirely around their real bookings, rather than a generic bolt-on plugin.

The finished platform brings together a public-facing site (home, about, facilities, history and contact/hire pages) with a full events, schedule and booking engine underneath it. Visitors can browse categorised upcoming events (workshops, meetings, community days), view the weekly recurring schedule by day, and check a combined hall calendar showing bookings, regular activities and blocked-out dates at a glance, in month, week or day view.

Behind the scenes, committee members manage all of this themselves through a dedicated admin dashboard: adding and editing events and schedule entries, updating the availability calendar, and reviewing and actioning hire and booking requests as they come in. The booking and ticketing infrastructure was also built with payment integration in mind from day one, so the Hall can switch on online payments in future without needing the system rebuilt, even though invoicing is still handled manually for now.
